Planning for Life — Financial Clarity for Families, Transitions & All Generations

Steve Morneau

CDFA®

Fiduciary Financial Planner

Most people don’t experience their financial life in neat stages.

They experience it in moments—saving for the first time, buying a home, raising children, caring for aging parents, navigating divorce, preparing for retirement, and making sense of what comes next.

I’m passionate about helping individuals and families navigate those moments with clarity, education, and a plan they actually understand.

Financial planning, to me, isn’t about products or predictions. It’s about helping people make confident decisions during life’s ups and downs—and knowing they don’t have to do it alone.

Philosophy

I lead with planning and education.

That might mean helping a young adult understand the building blocks of saving and investing. It might mean guiding a growing family through buying a home, planning for children, and saving for college. Often, it means supporting that same family years later as they help parents transition into retirement, long-term care, and estate planning.

Life is connected. Your financial plan should be too.

My approach is grounded in:

  • Low-cost, diversified investment strategies, including socially responsible (ESG) options

  • Thoughtful tax planning and income planning

  • Long-term accumulation with flexibility built in

  • Clear, accessible education—no jargon required

Divorce & Life Transitions

As a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst® (CDFA®), I have a deep focus on divorce financial planning and resolution.

I work closely with individuals, couples, mediators, and attorneys to help divorces move toward fair and equitable outcomes. This includes:

  • Asset division analysis

  • QDRO guidance and coordination

  • Cash-flow and budgeting support

  • Relocation and re-establishing independence

  • Building a clear post-divorce financial plan

Divorce is one of life’s most difficult transitions. I take pride in offering steady, compassionate support—helping clients regain clarity, confidence, and control during an uncertain time. Schedule a Divorce Planning Session.

Collaboration & Care

I believe the best outcomes come from collaboration. I regularly work alongside my clients’ CPAs, attorneys, and other professionals to ensure decisions are coordinated and thoughtful—not made in isolation.

With over 25 years in financial services and customer-focused roles, I bring both technical experience and genuine care to every relationship. Whether we meet virtually, by phone, or in person at one of our Vermont locations, my goal is always the same:
to provide a planning experience that feels personal, supportive, and grounded in trust.

Who I Serve

I work with:

  • Individuals and families at all stages of life

  • People navigating major transitions, including divorce

  • Small business owners

  • Clients locally in Vermont and across the country

All services are provided on a fee-only basis, with transparent pricing through hourly planning, ongoing planning, or investment management—always aligned with your needs, never commissions.

You deserve more than a financial advisor who manages accounts.

You deserve a partner who listens, educates, and helps you build a plan that supports your life—today and in the future.

If that sounds like what you’re looking for, I’d be glad to connect.

The why, behind the work

A man and a girl taking a selfie at a mountain resort, with green mountains, ski lift, and blue sky in the background.
A man and a boy taking a selfie on a golf course with a golf cart in the background. They are smiling, and the man is wearing a golf cap and a blue polo shirt, and the boy is wearing a striped polo shirt. The scene is sunny with a blue sky and green landscape.
A man and a young girl in ski gear taking a selfie on a snowy ski slope. Both are wearing helmets and masks, with the man in a blue mask, colorful ski goggles, and the girl in a pink helmet and a colorful mask, making a peace sign.
